Getting started in Paintball

Paintball is growing by leaps and bounds. It is fun and also a great form of exercise that can be played by all sorts of contestants from newbies to the experienced. But how do you get started. This article will summarize what you need and how to get started with as little out of pocket as possible. It can become an expensive hobby along the lines of golf but it can be relatively cheap to get started. The first piece of advice I can give would be to first rent a gun, or marker as it is called, to make sure you really like the sport. You can also borrow one and make it even cheaper. The only equipment you need to get started is a marker, a mask, and the paintballs. The gun has necessary attachments also. You need a hopper which holds the paintballs and pressurized air to propel the paintballs. It is also wise in my opinion to make sure you have a barrel cleaner and some lubricant to maintain your weapon. New guns will come with a manual that explains how to take it apart and clean it. Don’t worry it is very simple and it usually done with allen keys. I suppose I don’t have to explain why you need the mask plus most fields make paintball masks mandatory. Even if you decide to play non sanctioned then you should still use a mask. Always make sure you don’t forget to get the paintballs.

If you decide to play paintball then the least expensive way to purchase all of the equipment mentioned above is usually by getting a package. I do recommend you get a proven gun and not an off brand type of gun. The best one I have found is the Tippman 98 package. It comes with everything you need except the paintballs for under $150. This weapon is very durable, easy to operate and maintain, and very versatile. The versatility comes in if you stay with the sport and want to expand your repertoire. It is the easiest and least expensive way to upgrade. You can purchase all types of kits to fit most guns such as an AK-47 replica kit, or other assault weapons, even a paintball sniper gun. You can also just customize it yourself by buying longer barrels, scopes, and other cosmetic add ons. Some even carry a pistol, that can be carried in customized vests, as backup. Camouflage can be purchased also if you get serious and play woodsball.

So with very little investment you can enjoy a great sport that will reward you with a good time. It is also a great form of exercise and will sometimes create life long friendships but will provide camaraderie and the enjoyment of others.
